Monument to the unknown potter
Earthenware
h 25cm
A lot of my work refers to ceramic history
or art history to some extent. It's very
difficult to work in clay and not be aware
of the history of the medium and it's current
directions. Working in modern ceramics is
full of contradictions and unreconciled
ideas, that is one of the things that makes
it such an interesting medium for an artist,
or a potter to engage with.
Despite the title, in terms of the composition
this work refers to Tatlin's 'Monument
to the 3rd International' of 1919.
