Complexity

Wax crayon,
charcoal and gouache on paper 40cm
x 29cm
This set of drawings are derived from the
Andulsian landscapes on the previous page
and developed in a direction of their own.
Here I play with a shallow sense of depth
by depicting shadows and a hint of perspective
and allowing different patterns
to compete with each other.

Here I have used a mix of media starting
with a charcoal drawing, adding a pattern
in wax crayon then overpainting in watercolour
gouache.
